The selection of the NBA MVP (most valuable player) is an exciting staple of Spring. Throughout the season, sports analysts and anchors chime in, offering their opinion on the NBA’s indispensable players. Thus far the conversations have included Kobe Bryant, Kevin Garnett, LeBron James, Steve Nash, and Chris Paul, but no general consensus has been reached.
While NBA fans might debate the MVP, Christians can reach a consensus. GOD is our MVP, and that’s what Rahab confirms in the text. Just FYI – Rahab was the prostitute who hid the Israelite spies, and she certainly knew about their GOD. She’d heard how GOD created “Interstate Red Sea” and given the Israelites victory over their enemies. Afterward she observed, “For the Lord your God is the supreme God of the heavens above and the earth below,” or more simple, GOD is the MVP of the world!
If Rahab had enough sense to acknowledge HIM, then surely we should! GOD is our most valuable possession, protector, propitiation (thank you JESUS), and provider. Make sure you give HIM praise for HIS mighty works in your life!
