Appreciate G.R.A.C.E.

Mistakes can scar you permanently – just ask Micheal Ray Richardson, aka “Sugar.”  You’ve probably never heard of him, but trust me, he was an amazing basketball player.  In 1979, he became the first player to lead the NBA in steals and assists in the same season.  In 1986 however, Sugar’s lifestyle caught up with him.  He violated the NBA’s drug policy, and they banned him for life.

Mistakes can be detrimental, and that’s the lesson Saul, the recipient of today’s text, learned.  GOD commanded Saul to destroy the Amalekites and their possessions, and Saul disobeyed HIM.  He spared their king’s (Agag) life, and he kept some of their prized possessions.  Saul’s disobedience angered GOD, and HE rejected him.  What an awful consequence!

Truthfully, we all deserve the same sentence Saul received.  Thankfully, we have G.R.A.C.E.: GOD’S Redemption At Christ’s Expense.  Through CHRIST we have another chance with GOD, so make sure you appreciate your gift!

HIS G.R.A.C.E. is amazing …
