I LOVE Voltron, so I was ecstatic to see it on Boomerang (Cartoon Network) Tuesday night. If you have no idea what I’m talking about, then check out this web link: http://voltron.com/main.asp. In the meantime, I’ll try to make sense of this amazing cartoon. The show features 5 robot lions, each controlled by a human, each awesome in individual combat. When they work together, the 5 lions form Voltron – Defender of the Universe – and he’s literally unstoppable.
Something about GOD’S SPIRIT makes teamwork and unity enjoyable and productive. That’s the theme in today’s text. When GOD’S SPIRIT filled the people, they couldn’t resist working together. People shared their possessions and gave from their abundance. Later in the chapter, Luke wrote, “There were no needy people among them, because those who owned land or houses would sell them and bring the money to the apostles to give to those in need” (Acts 4:34-35, New Living Translation).
The key verse in Our Daily Bread for June 6 says, “Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other” (1 John 4:11, New Living Translation). Working together is an expression of GOD’S love. If we work together, we can overcome the economic, political, and social, and spiritual hardships prevalent in our world.
