Last academic year (2007-2008), my staff had to complete a safety training entitled “Blood Borne Pathogens.” It was an online training and quiz which I decided to complete as well. I’ll be honest: the training was hard! It was full of big words and medical terms that made comprehension complicated. I’ll admit it: at several points in the training I asked myself, “What did I just read?”
Have you ever felt like that after reading the Bible? If so, you’re in good company, for the main character in today’s text felt the same way. The man (an Ethiopian eunuch) was reading from Isaiah, and evidently, the passage was more than he could handle. But before he could give up or close the Bible, Philip came to the rescue and explained the passage to him. This shows us that GOD will help us understand the Bible if we try to read it.

Remember what JESUS told the disciples, “.. the Holy Spirit-he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you” (John 14:26, New Living Translation).
