Go to THE WORD!

Yesterday, GOD reminded me that HE’S perfectly punctual; though HE might not come when we want HIM, HE’S always on time!  My day got off to a rocky start; I was battling defeating and discouraging thoughts.  Before I plunged too low, GOD sent my friend Lloyd to the rescue, testifying about HIS goodness.  HE’D encountered a disappointing situation a few days before, but in the midst of his disappointment, he went to the WORD of GOD.  And as he read, the SPIRIT calmed his nerves and reinstated his faith.

There’s power in the WORD, and that’s what the disciples discovered in this excerpt from Mark.  They were traveling by ship in obedience to CHRIST’S command: “Let’s cross to the other side of the lake” (Mark 4:31, New Living Translation).  A storm arose as they traveled, and it troubled their minds and erased their faith.  Though they were scared, they knew where to find relief.  They went to THE WORD, JESUS (see John 1:14), and HE calmed the storm.  I reiterate: there’s power in THE WORD!

The same WORD that calmed a stormy sea can dissipate the storms in our minds.  So don’t lose your cool in the trial; instead, find relief in the WORD of GOD.  The WORD is our anchor on life’s stormy sea.

Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock.  Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock (Matthew 7:24-24, New Living Translation).
