The WORD is worth thinking about

I’m not sure if you’ve conducted a thought inventory lately, but I noticed that numerous thoughts enter and exit my mind throughout the day.  Sometimes the thoughts are simple – “What should I wear today?” or “What should I eat for lunch?”  Sometimes I’ll get wrapped up in the times and wonder if gas prices will keep increasing or if food will soon be unaffordable.  Whether you realize it or not, we think about a lot of things, and most of our thoughts aren’t worth the time we invest considering them.

There’s is something, however, that’s worth every minute we spend thinking about it – the WORD of GOD.  Psalm 1 lists at least two benefits of thinking about GOD’S WORD.  First, the WORD will be our spiritual security system – it can detect disruptive thoughts and suggestions.  Second, the WORD will make us successful – we’ll stand in the storms (like a tree planted by the water) and bear fruit at the appropriate time.  Truly, the WORD is worth thinking about.

When chaos clutters your mind, do a little “spring cleaning.”  Drink from the well of wisdom, the WORD of GOD; IT’S something worth considering (and applying).

… don’t let me wander from your commands.  I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you (Psalm 119:10-11, New Living Translation).
