I was inspired by a woman’s testimony on the Weather Channel. As she and her family stood on the roof of her house, waiting to be rescued in a hurricane, her husband began to lose heart. When he looked at the height of the water (about 25 feet), he thought death was certain. Before he could give up, however, the woman said the words of a song came to mind. She started singing, and encouraged her husband and mother to sing as well, and before long, they felt like surviving. Long story short, the woman and her family found inspiration in some words.
What keeps Christians together when everything around us has fallen apart? How do we survive when the tidal wave of turmoil tries to drown us. The verses included above remind us that our anchor in the storm is the Word. Jesus was so confident in the Word that He said it will make us storm-proof: “Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock.” In other words, the Word is our rain jacket – it covers us in the storms of life!
This recharge is a reminder that the Word will keep you afloat. The Word is your life jacket on life’s stormy sea. Use it, and stand during these perilous times!
