Have you ever read someone wrong? Have you ever drawn a conclusion about someone and later discovered you were wrong? I certainly have. It’s easy to misread people, especially when we analyze behaviors through our previous experiences.
Eli read Hannah wrong, but to his credit, he hadn’t observed such behavior before. Hannah wasn’t drunk; she was praying. Thankfully, Eli didn’t “burn bridges” with his assumption, for Hannah had something (Samuel) inside of her that Eli needed.
We can miss golden opportunities to connect with some amazing people because of our own assumptions. My prayer is that God will open your eyes to see the potential in others. Who knows when you’ll meet the person who has exactly what you need.
Thought to Consider:
Am I open- or closed-minded when I meet others?
