It will come back to you

Last night, I watched an entertaining episode of All of Us, a sitcom produced by Will and Jada Pinkett Smith.  Dirk Black, the best friend of one of the main characters, was the object of scorn throughout the episode.  Evidently, he was a “ladies’ man” in college, and several women attended their class reunion seeking retribution.  And they got it – every woman he mistreated slapped him.  Dirk learned the boomerang theory: whatever you dish out will come back to you.

Today’s text also illustrates the boomerang theory.  Prior to this text, King Saul and his family murdered the Gibeonites against GOD’S will.  While they thought they would escape unharmed, they were terribly wrong!  Years later, the Gibeonites repaid the favor.  When King David gave them 7 of King Saul’s sons, they killed them all.

This recharge is just a simple reminder – watch what you sow.  Paul said it this way, “Don’t be misled-you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant” (Galatians 6:7, New Living Translation).  Whatever you sow will come back to you.

Be careful …
