“But whatever I am now, it is all because God poured out his special favor on me” (1 Corinthians 15:10, NLT)
When you think about the success you’ve experienced, where do you direct the credit? Actors, artists, athletes, politicians, and others we see on TV tend to express gratitude to other people. When they receive awards, they often thank parents, teachers, teammates, and others who played a vital role in their success.
One of my best friends and I had the same conversation recently. As we reflected on our accomplishments, we both aimed the credit in the same direction. Our testimony is that God made us who we are!
Paul shared the same sentiments. He told his Christian brothers and sisters in Corinth that all credit for his success went to God. All of his accomplishments were the result of God’s work in and through him. He was a grace beneficiary.
Now, I ask the question to you. Who deserves the credit for your success? If you’re like me, you’re too error-prone to mention your name. You’re a grace beneficiary as well, and God deserves the credit for all of your successes. God did it, and He deserves your praise!
