The Stanford University men’s basketball team features twins, Brock and Robin Lopez; this is Stanford’s second set of twin basketball players in the past 10 years. During a NCAA tournament pre-game show, CBS interviewed Brock and Robin to dispel some myths about twins. One of the myths discussed during the interview was whether twins feel each other’s pain.
While it might not be clear if twins feel each other’s pain, one thing is certain – JESUS feels ours. In today’s text, JESUS encounters a funeral procession – a widow has lost her only son. Before JESUS demonstrated HIS miraculous power over death, HE stopped and embraced the woman. What a tender-hearted SAVIOR HE is; HE hurts when we do!
Satan is the instigator of isolation, and he often whispers, “No one understands the pain you feel.” Today’s recharge is a reminder that our HIGH PRIEST feels our pain (see Hebrews 4:15). No wonder the old song says, “What a friend we have in JESUS, all our sins and griefs to bear.” Take your burdens to CHRIST, “for he cares about you” (1 Peter 5:7, New Living Translation).
Press on, knowing that HE understands …
