An excerpt from an old Gospel song notes, “Time is filled with swift transitions …” In other words, life is full of changes. Here are a few examples: the weather, gas prices, fashion trends, our circumstances, and last, but not least, people. People are fickle. They can love you one moment and leave the next.
In Psalm 3, David encountered the latter change. This king, who had been adorned by the Israelites, was now the object of scorn. Even though he was in a period of transition, David found something stable – God. Even though his circumstances changed, God remained the same!
The same song I quoted earlier says, “Hold to God’s unchanging hand.” This advice is still applicable today. When life presents unexpected, and even unwelcome, changes, remember that God is still the same. He’ll never leave nor forsake us!
