Our current economy may challenge your excitement about Christmas. Depending on your employment status, you may have to limit the gifts you purchase or distance you travel. Worse, you may get a case of the “If I had’s.” If I had more money, more time, I would do this or that.
Before you plunge too deep into despair, let me offer an alternative. According to Psalm 150, you have twelve reasons each minute to be excited. The average person breathes at least twelve times per minute, and God is the source of each breath (see Genesis 2:7). Every breath you take is a gift from God!
Instead of focusing on what you don’t have, think about what you do have. The real purpose of this season is to reflect on the most precious things in life – gifts from God. Don’t lose focus on His goodness in the midst of your current, and might I add, temporary, circumstances.
